Mannequin Still-Life

Both of these pieces were created as assignments for Beginning Drawing, which I took as a course during my time as an undergraduate student at Juniata College. While the first portion of the course focused on accurately rendering the contours of a scene, the second portion focused on rendering scenes in a full spectrum of values.

The mannequin depicted in these pieces served as a transitional subject between the two parts of the course. This allowed us to capture the same scene using both techniques, so that we could easily compare the processes and results.

Unlike the majority of the undergraduate projects in this portfolio, both of these are photos of the completed pieces; the pencil illustration is NOT a "work in progress" photo of the charcoal piece.
